Evje's Story

In 1998 Anders and Nicola moved from Oslo to Evje Gård in Sigdal with the vision of creating a cultural center centered around an organic farm committed to ecological sustainability. They invited professionals and experts to lead workshops and seminars on topics such as organic farming, health, holistic living, and personal development.

As their own knowledge and experience grew, they began to run projects and offer courses at the farm, welcoming participants and students from both Norway and abroad. Over the years, many interns and agro-ecology students have lived and worked on the farm, ranging from short stays to longer-term engagements. Additionally, numerous individuals have taken part in courses focused on personal development and leadership.

This journey has culminated in the establishment of our Organic Culture Centre as it exists today.

Life at Evje

Our bee family

In 2015 we began our relationship with honey bees. It has been, and still is, both challenging and rewarding to learn bee-keeping, and we consider ourselves blessed to have knowledgable local mentors generously guiding us. Thanks to this guidance we have an abundance of delicious honey to keep us sweet.

Vegetables and herbs

At Evje we grow a variety of vegetables and herbs in our garden from May to October to cover our basic needs. We also enjoy the land's abundant supply of wild berries, mushrooms and edible plants.
